Birthday Dream List
When you’re unemployed, you spend most of your time fantasizing about the “perfect” job, the “perfect” apartment, the “perfect” life, that is now so easily attainable. So this week, as I countdown to my 27th birthday on SuperBowl Sunday (thanks a lot NFL), I’ve imagined the “perfect” birthday gift list.
A plane ticket to visit my friend...
7 year old cousin: Do you wanna play my Spiderman game?
Me: No, I'm worn out from the puzzles and all the games with your sister.
Cousin: come on!
Me: I'm too tired. I'm used to laying around all the time.
Cousin: Like a fat cat?
Me: ahaha yes, just like that.
Opportunity to be on TV!!
Anyone in NYC have an online date this weekend? If so, would you let a national television show film it?
Additionally, if you are online dating and single and want to be setup for a first date that will be filmed in NYC this weekend, let me know!
If so, email me ASAP at kendyl[dot]wright[at]gmail[dot]com!
Real talk
Mom: what did Meg say?
Me: I already told you yesterday. Do you listen to me when I talk?
Mom: well actually I'm a terrible listener.
Me: thanks mom.
Living With Your Parents at 26: Life Choices...
Dad: Who ordered Despicable Me?
Me: Me!
Dad: when did you watch it?
Me: yesterday I think.
Dad: (shakes head, laughs)
Me: What? I wanted to see it.
Dad: I'm just laughing at you. It must bs nice to just work out and watch pay-per-view movies all day.
Me: It is, thank you.
Today
I miss my friends.
I miss spin class.
I miss having people to talk to during the day.
I miss my apartment.
I miss my friends.
I hate texting and wish more people liked talking on the phone.
I miss having unlimited money.
I miss shopping.
I miss NYC.
I miss my friends.

Living with your parents at 26: Retainer Edition
Mom: do you still have your retainer?
Me: yeah- somewhere.
Mom: well you need to start wearing it. Your teeth are getting gaps.
Me: Eh- no big deal.
Mom: I paid a lot of money for those teeth! Find your retainer and wear it.
Me: Yes ma'am.
I have always, essentially, been waiting. Waiting to become something else,...

Paying It Forward - Care Packages
Last year, I was passively following a blog that spoke about life and love and puppies and finding complete joy in all circumstances. The writer seemed so content with her life, so proud of her family and animals and her friends and so deeply happy with who she was and what she was about. And as I struggled through my dad’s cancer, and through a battle with depression, and an ongoing battle with...

a sadness in finding happiness
I’ve been out of New York for exactly 11 days. It took around 4 for me to realize that I don’t belong south of the Mason Dixon anymore, and maybe I never did. Two days later, I went to dinner with 6 married couples and realized I have no desire to be married yet. And then yesterday, I attended a baby shower of one of my high school friends and listened to all 8 of my high school girls...
I'm Unemployed Week Two
This week has included quality time with my college besties, delicious New Orleans meals, a free Darius Rucker concert, meeting one of my fave tumblrs in real life and now I’m shopping with Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde) at a boutique in the Garden District. Tonight I’ll watch the Razorbacks embarrass Ohio State at the Superdome and celebrate on Bourbon. That looming sense of dread...
Fact: there are few things in life that I love as much as a glass of wine with a girlfriend. Best way to end the first day of 2011.
